The Schöller Energie Gruppe comprises several independent companies — from the energy holding to project development. A structure that draws its strength from the autonomy of the individual businesses — and that, precisely because of this, puts controlling in front of a familiar challenge: how do you keep financial oversight of the entire group without losing your footing in the detail of the individual companies?
The starting point was familiar. Financial and liquidity information was spread across a multitude of Excel files. A consolidated picture was produced manually, laboriously and always only after the fact. A reliable ad-hoc answer on the current situation — across all companies — was barely possible.
Together with Michael Kamsteeg, the group’s CFO, we developed LiquidityLens for exactly this reality. Today the group steers its finances from a single system:
Beyond that, LiquidityLens delivers not just numbers but their interpretation: AI-assisted commentary and concrete recommendations for action. The calculations run deterministically and traceably — the AI interprets verified values and derives recommendations from them; it does not generate the numbers.
And all of it in a protected EU environment: the group’s consolidated financial data never leaves the secured area at any point.
The result: scattered Excel files give way to a clear, consolidated picture of the financial situation — short-term liquidity, mid-term planning, order book, guarantees and financial reporting in one system, with AI-assisted interpretation as the basis for decisions.
